Let’s Move! Child Care is a National effort to promote children’s health by encouraging and supporting physical activity and nutrition for children in child care. To reach more child care providers and encourage state participation in the Let’s Move! Child Care (LMCC) initiative, the National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies (NACCRRA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Administration for Children and Families–Office of Child Care have launched a nationwide competition, the Let’s Move! Child Care State Challenge. States have the opportunity to be recognized in two categories: 1) the state with the highest percentage of licensed or legally operating child care programs that sign up as LMCC participants, and 2) the state with the highest percentage of programs that complete the Let’s Move! Child Care Checklist Quiz. Winning states will receive national recognition, including recognition during the 2012 Weight of the Nation Conference in Washington D.C. Let’s show the nation how much Wisconsin cares about our children!
In Wisconsin, we offer two resources to help your center implement nutrition and physical activity recommendations: Active Early: A Wisconsin Guide for Improving Childhood Physical Activity and Healthy Bites: A Wisconsin Guide for Improving Childhood Nutrition. You can access both guides and many other resources here and here.
Thank you for all you do for the children in your care!
