Did you know that more than 30% of Wisconsin’s low-income children between the ages of 2 and4 are overweight or obese? WECA, along with other organizations, has been working hard to reduce childhood obesity across the state through the Wisconsin Early Childhood Obesity Prevention Initiative (WECOPI). We have been providing one-on-one assistance to child care programs through the Active Early program (learn more!), talking with legislators, and working with CACFP participating programs through a Wellness Grant.
And here’s the great news- all the work WECOPI has been doing is paying off, with tremendously positive changes and results! WECOPI and Tender Times, a family child care program in Amery, WI, recently received national recognition for promoting and implementing the Let’s Move! Child Care goals.
